Healing & Aftercare
After your permanent cosmetics procedure, slight redness and mild discomfort should can be expected.
Wash your hands with anti-bacterial soap before cleaning your new eyebrows. When cleaning the area, do not use any exfoliator or acid based products. It shouldn’t, but if scabbing or peeling occurs, do not pick at them. Do not apply makeup directly on top of the treated area at any point before 2 weeks. To remove makeup worn around the area, wash with something like a baby wipe or micellar water on a cotton round. Avoid harsh cleansers and makeup removers. Your normal skincare can be applied around the area.
Alicia will go over the aftercare process with you at the time of your appointment which involves cleaning them with a q-tip and applying a small amount of healing ointment for 7-10 days so that you keep them clean, hydrated, and free from scabbing. Do not be alarmed if you see some pigment on the cotton swab when cleaning the area during that time as this is excess pigment and/or body fluid that is naturally exiting your skin.
It is essential to avoid the following for the first 7-10 days:
Excess sun exposure
Excessive sweating (salt in sweat can affect pigment retention)
Direct water exposure (such as showers and makeup removal)
Massages, facials, and botox treatments
Long-Term Care
Products with retinols and anti-aging properties increase cell turn-over. This can prematurely fade your brow pigment. Alicia recommends avoiding putting them directly on your microblading.
Touch up sessions should wait until a large majority of your pigment has faded rather than scheduling a touch up session to prevent fading.
The lifespan of microblading can range from person to person depending on things like genetics, skin type, sun exposure, topical agents, and medical conditions.
